The Gambia Horse & Donkey Trust

This is My friend Heather Armstrong, who I have known for several years .  You will often see her & her Family in  their  Gambia Horse & Donkey Gazebo at Hickstead Show Jumping Ground on major event days selling items made in the Gambia to raise funds.

It is wonderful to read her story on how she started a Donkey Sanctuary to care for the welfare of the Horses & Donkey's & has now involved local children in looking after & caring for their animals in a humane way.

I participated in one of her schemes where you can buy a Donkey & under regular supervision the Donkey is placed with a Family who have children.

They are then educated how to take proper care of them, the donkeys work for the Families in the fields & transporting goods to other villages, this way they can farm the land for food & make a small income for their Family.

I named My Donkey Moses & he has become a star in his own right, winning a few rosettes for his owner in competitions held at the sanctury.

I also get  regular updates & pictures on how he is progressing, for such a small amount, it is incredible how my gift has changed this Families Life, a blessing to see & any support you can give to the cause would be greatly appreciated.

This is a Charitable run organisation.

Why can Foreign Governments not finance these organisations to help their people build better Lives.

Click on the links below to read more about Heathers work, she is yet another of our unsung hero's, her dedication to her work just astounds me, she is always working for these children & animals to provide a better Life for them.

Her Christian heart reflects in her smile, May God continue to Bless her.

                THE DONKEY

      G.K.Chesterton, 1894 - 1936

When fishes flew and forests walked
And figs grew upon thorn
Some moment when the moon was blood
Then surely I was born.

With monstrous head and sickening cry
And ears like errant wings
The devil's walking parody
On all four-footed things.

The tattered outlaw of the earth.
Of ancient crooked will;
Starve, scourge, deride me: I am dumb
I keep my secret still.

Fools! For I also had my hour;
One far fierce hour and sweet:
There was a shout about my ears,
And palms before my feet.
